Uhhh, this is one where I actually have some sympathy with Vivek.
Caroline Downey and I have been creating video shorts for YouTube and Instagram for a while now, and a couple of months ago NR began posting them on TikTok as well. Not because we are fans of TikTok or think it should exist (it’s “no” on both counts), but because, unfortunately, it’s immensely influential with young people, and if some of them see something we are saying, it might do a little good.
A number of people and institutions I respect have made the same call. But, of course, I understand the counter view, which you both state so forcefully, entirely.
