The Washington Post reports that Vivek Ramaswamy, the biotech entrepreneur and former 2024 presidential candidate whom Donald Trump tapped to lead his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), will soon announce his plans to run for governor of Ohio, where the current governor, Mike DeWine, is term-limited. The president-elect has said that DOGE must finish its work by July 4, 2026 — four months before that year’s gubernatorial election.
Ramaswamy’s political calculations here are not surprising. Speaking with National Review in Oxford, Ohio, back in mid-October, the Cincinnati native said: “Six months ago, I would’ve told you no chance. . . . But the more I’ve traveled the state, we have leaders across the state, grassroots activists, that are compelling me and drafting me into this. And so, I have to give it serious consideration.”
