The Wait Is Over

Well, if you were waiting for a passionate display from Mitt Romney, if you were waiting for him to engage his opponents, if you were waiting for him to get knocked down and humbled enough to stop running a general-election campaign in an obvious way and come down to primary level, the wait is over. Mitt Romney tonight, accusing Newt Gingrich of taking up “the weapons of the Left,” delivered his “Game on” speech in South Carolina.

The run-up to the Florida primary may be the most “interesting” — to use a Romney word from tonight reacting to what had just happened in the Palmetto State — in recent political memory. A safe bet is to not make any bets on the winner.
