Wake-Up Call

E-mailbag:

It’s becoming painfully obvious that Charlie Crist is seriously worried about Marco Rubio. On Tampa radio, I’ve heard a Crist campaign commercial 5 times in the past 24 hours, 53 weeks before the election! In it, it stresses his early term conservative streak, cutting property taxes, casualty insurance reform and job growth. He completely neglects his support for the stimulus, his support for John McCain that helped get a weak candidate nominated, or his recent “No fee so high, it can’t be raised” attempt at correcting our budget problems. To hear him talk at this point, he’s way to the right of Rubio.

On the one hand, this is good news for Rubio: He has Crist running a little scared. On the other hand, it’s bad news. The way insurgents such as Rubio win elections is by sneaking up on unsuspecting favorites, catch them asleep, and score an upset. It sounds like Crist may be wide awake to his problem.
