Walker: ‘No Excuse’ for Trump’s Comments

Atlanta — Scott Walker weighed in on the latest Donald Trump kerfuffle on Twitter, saying there was “no excuse” for Trump’s remarks about Megyn Kelly.

Walker has, in the past, condemned Trump’s comments — when Trump said John McCain was “not a war hero,” Walker said he ought to apologize, “at a minimum.” But Walker has also tried to stay above the fray to some degree, avoiding the direct fights that some of his opponents have engaged in with Trump.

Today he took a jab at the business mogul.

Walker is scheduled to speak at the RedState Gathering, from which Trump was uninvited, later today. Walker’s reference to Fiorina, who was the first candidate to condemn Trump’s remarks late last night in a tweet, is notable and indicative of the important role she can play in Republican politics today as the party contends with a new series of gaffes from male candidates that are breathing new life into Democrats’ “war on women” narrative. As the only Republican woman running for president, Fiorina could have a unique ability to steer the conversation.
