Walter Dellinger Weighs In

He says that Linda Greenhouse shouldn’t be disqualified from reporting merely because she has views about abortion policy and the Constitution. (He cites unnamed people who took this ridiculous view.) “Why has no critic actually undertaken to demonstrate Linda’s bias from readily available public sources? Two weeks work by a summer intern would do the trick.” Since we haven’t done this, we know that she isn’t biased, we’re being dishonest, and it is wrong for the New York Times to dignify our chages. Q.E.D. Actually, conservatives have been documenting Greenhouse’s bias for at least two decades. (My own small effort in this regard can be found here.) It is true that nobody has, to my knowledge, used the precise methodology that Dellinger suggests, but that “failure” can hardly prove the grand claims Dellinger makes.
