Despite his sympathy for the Democratic Party, investment billionaire Warren Buffett isn’t a fan of all potential 2016 candidates, telling CNBC on Monday that Democratic Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is too “angry” and unnecessarily ”demonizes” her political opponents.
Warren, who despite urgings from progressives has repeatedly said she is not running, regularly singles out financial institutions and rich individuals in her populist screeds against income inequality.
So when Buffett was asked what he thought about the senator — “especially her views of Wall Street” — he didn’t mince words.
“Well, she would do better if she was less angry and demonized less,” he said. “I believe in, ‘Hate the sin, and love the sinner.’ And I also believe in praising by name and criticizing by category. And I’m not sure that I’ve totally convinced Elizabeth Warren that that’s the way to go.”
“I think it’s a mistake to get angry with people that disagree with you,” Buffett continued. “I mean, in the end, we do have to work together.”
Liberal political blog ThinkProgress wasted no time in attacking his remarks, claiming that “Buffett’s use of the emotional word ‘angry’ may be a sign of some subtle sexism.”
