While a Republican colleague expressed confidence for his party’s chances in the 2014 midterms, Debbie Wasserman Schultz offered a more tepid prediction for Democrats.
“I’m not going to confidently predict that Democrats will take the House back,” the Democratic National Committee chairwoman said in a post–State of the Union event held by Politico. “What I will predict is that we pick up seats.”
Wasserman Schultz skirted saying what seats she thought Democrats would pick up when pressed by Representative Kevin McCarthy, instead trying to hush the eager congressman. “Down boy,” she said.
