In response to Kerry Wants “Equal Time”
Kevin’s piece today about Donald Trump’s constant lying was spot-on. He’s on every side of virtually every issue, and the only real constant is that he always advances his current perceived self-interest. We can write about this reality, but sometimes only seeing is believing. Take five minutes and watch Donald Trump believe everything and nothing (language warning):
One of the more frustrating and fruitless conversations in modern politics is with a Trump supporter who just insists that Trump can be trusted. But trusted to do what? If you want boots on the ground in the Middle East, Trump’s your guy. If you want America to stop sending its soldiers to die on foreign soil, Trump’s your guy. If you want higher taxes, Trump’s your guy. If you want lower taxes, Trump’s your guy. The list goes on.
The bottom line is that the best one can hope for is that when the time comes to make a decision that Trump’s perceived interests align with yours. Even then, however, you can be sure he’ll execute his plan in the most noxious way possible, alienating even potential allies and bringing your cause into disrepute. Good luck. You can’t say you weren’t warned.
