Fox News’s Sean Hannity sat down last night with the mother of one of the three Israeli teenagers who were kidnapped and subsequently murdered by Hamas earlier this summer. In a powerful interview, Rachel Fraenkel, the mother of Naftali Fraenkel, discussed her and her family’s experience as they dealt with the teen’s death.

Israel’s military effort to find the Israeli teens, which was “very gentle toward the population but intense towards Hamas,” Fraenkel said, and it was that operation that led to the discovery of the tunnels that Hamas had been digging from Gaza into Israel.

Fraenkel added that it is “frustrating” to learn of these well-engineered tunnels because the general population of Gaza is in need of houses, shelters, hospitals, and schools. Rather than funding things that would help the Palestinian people, she explained, all of the aid that comes from all over the world goes toward building “terrorist tunnels that really, literally go under kindergartens and communities.”

Hannity quoted the mother of one of the alleged kidnappers, who said that if Israel is accurate in accusing her son of the kidnapping, “I will be proud of him until judgment day.”

“I can’t even relate to that,” Fraenkel responded. “There’s such a culture gap there. Something about the Hamas culture and around it is turning death into the ultimate sacred act — killing and being killed. And in my culture and religion and general atmosphere here, it’s all about life, and trying to live well and hopefully in peace.”

“It’s beyond my comprehension,” she said.

Naftali Fraenkel had dual Israeli-American citizenship, and was 16 when he was murdered.
