Weiner Could Resign ‘In a Couple of Days’

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D., N.Y.) told reporters following a Democratic caucus meeting Tuesday that embattled Rep. Anthony Weiner (D., N.Y.) — who was recently granted a two-week paid leave of absence — might resign “in a couple of days.”

Meanwhile, House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) finally weighed in on the scandal, offering a simple “yes” in response to a question of whether he thought Weiner should resign.

And in case you were wondering, Rep. Barney Frank (D., Mass.) — himself no stranger to sex scandals — told reporters that he was in no position to judge Weiner:

“Given these circumstances, where I was myself engaged in activity I shouldn’t have been … I just don’t think it’s appropriate for me to set myself up as the judge of others,” Frank told reporters in the Capitol Tuesday.

Frank said he wouldn’t dodge the issue if it comes up for a vote in the House, “but to step up and appoint myself a judge of other people based on my own past, I just don’t think it’s appropriate,” he said.
