The Times (the real one, not the imposter in New York) has the story on the terror suspects’ way of life, subsidized by the welfare state and hazed by marijuana (what is Wahhabism’s line on that, I wonder?). The Brits have invented a new word for this type of person: chav (one of these days I hope to write a social history of Britain entitled, “From Chaps to Chavs.”)
It transpires that ten months ago, Mukhtar Said Ibrahim swore an oath to be “faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, her Heirs and Successors, according to law”. He also managed to gain citizenship despite a criminal conviction and participation in a prison riot. His “radicalization” appears to have happened in jail, under the nose of Crown authority.
