Wendy Davis Memoir to Be Published in Fall 2014

Penguin Random House announced that they will publish the memoir of Texas state senator Wendy Davis in “the fall of 2014,” according to a Dallas News report, which notes that ”it’s safe to assume it’ll be on shelves, actual and virtual, well before Texas voters pick a governor on November 4.”

Wendy Davis, who rose to fame after her state senate filibuster of legislation banning abortions after 20 weeks, recently announced her intention to run for governor of Texas. Her main opponent is Republican Texas attorney general Greg Abbot. With the election just under a year out, Abbot leads Davis by nearly ten points, according to the Real Clear Politics polling average.

In the publisher release about the memoir, Davis says, “Everyone deserves to have a say in their future. I hope telling the story of how I went from being a single mom to serving in the Texas State Senate to running for governor will remind others that with the right leadership in government, where you start has nothing to do with how far you go.”

The release also noted that Davis will “share personal details about her life, her beliefs, her experiences as a public servant and her continued efforts to fight on behalf of all Texans.”
