WFB

Today’s NRO podcast is with Lee Edwards, author of William F. Buckley Jr.: The Maker of a Movement. We discuss WFB’s legacy as well as WFB the man–how he managed his time, his willingness to take big gambles, and how he combined a conservative philosophy with a libertarian spirit. Lee’s book is (I think) the first posthumous biography of WFB. In time, there will be others. At less than 200 pages of narrative, it’s a brief overview rather than an exhaustive history–and an excellent source for readers who want to learn a little bit more about NR’s founder.

John J. Miller, the national correspondent for National Review and host of its Great Books podcast, is the director of the Dow Journalism Program at Hillsdale College. He is the author of A Gift of Freedom: How the John M. Olin Foundation Changed America.
