WH Cancels Tours, Blames Sequester

White House tours will be cancelled as of March 9, the Obama administration announced Tuesday in an e-mail to Capitol Hill staff.

“Due to staffing reductions resulting from sequestration, we regret to inform you that White House Tours will be canceled effective Saturday, March 9, 2013 until further notice,” the White House wrote in the e-mail. “Unfortunately, we will not be able to reschedule affected tours.”

And then, to rub it in: “We very much regret having to take this action, particularly during the popular Spring touring season.”

After appearing to lose the initial fight over the sequester, the White House is doubling down on its doom-mongering in an effort to create a public backlash against Republicans. The early efforts are not going so well, but we can certainly expect more of this in the weeks to come.
