But What About Weld?

My colleague Fred Dicker, in his front-page New York Post piece today, mentions that former Massachusetts governor William Weld might make the race to succeed George Pataki. Weld is a fascinating option. He is actually a born and bred New Yorker and has lived in the state for eight years now. Plus he’s a multi-zillionaire, and smart, and had a great track record in Massachusetts. Even so, he would be running atop a wounded, decimated and nearly destroyed GOP party base. It’s a long hard slog. Would he want to make it, given that the odds are against him?
