What Do Abdulmutallab and Dennis Blair Have in Common?

The nation’s top intelligence officials told Congress they “weren’t consulted” on the decision to treat Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab as a civilian criminal. But Eric Holder and Robert Gibbs say the same officials were in fact “informed” of the decision.

What’s the difference between being consulted and being informed? Eric Holder was consulted on Miranda rights for Abdulmutallab. Abdulmutallab was merely informed.
