The Corner

What to My Wondering Eyes Should Appear . . .

So, I’m in the Department of Justice yesterday, hanging with some U.S. attorneys — stellar ones. Wonder what they’ll do after next January. Anyway, I’m walking up to the Great Hall, and I see a series of wall paintings — one of which depicted Thomas Aquinas. I remarked to my friend, “Whoa, look at that. Clear violation of the First Amendment, don’t you think?” He said, “You ain’t seen nothing yet.” And there, around the corner . . . was a depiction of Jesus.

Why hasn’t the ACLU burned the Justice Department down? But we remember there was a time when America wasn’t insane about church-state matters. When political correctness did not rule the roost.

Well, at least we can look forward to the next four — or eight — years!
