What Pelosi Could Do…

…according to a knowledgable Hill type, is “deny to sit an ‘out of favor’ Dem on any committee in the House. Much like what happened to Traficant before he was expelled. Traficant was not given a committee assignment for the 107th Congress because of his vote for Hastert as Speaker of the House over Dick Gephardt in 2001.” Of course she’d have to wait until after the 2006 election to do this, and it seems to me she doesn’t have enough power to enforce such a punishment against someone who decided to serve on a commission to find out what went wrong with hurricane relief. I agree it’s punishment enough just to hear what comes out of her mouth when her lips move.
