There are two worthwhile pieces on George Will’s speech. First here is Peter Wehner responding (in part) to my post on his original lamentation on Will’s allegedly regrettable lapse into a more traditionally American conservative interpretation of the founding and the role government. The second is Conrad Black’s column on the same speech that started the conversation. I haven’t read Will’s speech itself yet, though I hope to on the plane ride back home tomorrow. There are parts of both pieces I agree with and parts I disagree with (my strongest disagreement, as some might expect, is with Conrad Black’s defense of Woodrow Wilson). I hope to pen a lengthier response to both soon.
