What’s in a Nose?

This article about a hate-Thatcher party in Trafalgar Square tells us something very interesting: “As a huge effigy of Thatcher — complete with hook nose and handbag — made its way down the stairs in front of the National Gallery, the crowd erupted into cries of ‘Maggie! Maggie! Maggie! Dead! Dead! Dead!’”

Hook nose? Really? Margaret Thatcher, Jew? The thing about the Left, they never let you down. (Same with their likenesses on the right, of course.)

P.S. On a lighter note, I love the quip of Harold Macmillan, who noticed a lot of Jews around Prime Minister Thatcher: “A Conservative government is supposed to be full of Old Etonians, not old Estonians.”

P.P.S. Do you know what Thatcher regarded as her greatest achievement? Nothing to do with reviving the British economy or prevailing in the Falklands or anything like that: It was the role she and her family played in saving the life of an Austrian Jewish girl, Edith Mühlbauer. Worth Googling, if you’re not Thatchered out.

How Trump Could Have Reacted to the Election

It was predictable, and widely predicted, that Donald Trump would respond to an election loss, particularly one by as narrow a margin as this, with claims of fraud, efforts to delegitimize the outcome, and increasingly implausible attempts to find some lever to overturn it. Handling setbacks without grace or ... Read More
