The Corner

What’s that Now?

I don’t read Ryan Sager regularly, in large part because I think his anti-NR and pro-libertarian schtick is too often factually and logically impaired. But I stumbled on this column (Via NoLeftTurns ) and I see that he’s concerned that “government-loving” Wal-Mart shoppers may leave the GOP and go to their “natural home” in the Democratic Party. One could argue with some of his column and agree with other bits, but in general it does raise the amusing irony: For a couple years now Sager has reflexively insisted that the GOP should become more libertarian — something I’m sympathetic to, by the way — (and often questions the bona fides of conservatives who disagree) but this is the first time I’ve noticed him acknowledging the fact that doing so isn’t necessarily smart politics.
