Within my first hour here I a) heard — even with my almost-nonexistent knowledge of Italian — President Bush being bashed as a Texas cowboy and b) discovered I may be the reason for anti-Americanism: my cab driver from the airport was singing “Listen to Your Heart” by Roxette. Listen, I love David Hasselhoff, and, say, The Outfield, but I can also recognize their shortcomings. And if this is what the world first associates with America … !
