These sorts of stories drive me bonkers. Local news outlets are celebrating the news that while our gun crime rate is very high, our legal gun ownership rate is very low. Wyoming reported the highest rate of people with loaded and unlocked guns in the home. I haven’t checked their gun crime numbers, but my guess is I’d rather be in their position than DC’s. I’m all for gun safety in the home. But only in a place like DC could we care more that law-abiding people don’t have guns than that criminals do have them.
