White House press secretary Jay Carney confirmed at a press briefing this morning that the White House Easter egg roll will happen, despite reports that it might be cancelled.
The White House had e-mailed ticket holders to warn them that the event might be called off “due to funding uncertainty surrounding the Executive Office of the President and other federal agencies.” Carney insisted that the event was threatened not by the sequester cuts, but by a possible government shutdown. Since “progress is being made” on the continuing resolution to fund the federal government, he assured the White House press corps that “we have every expectation that the Easter egg roll will proceed as planned.”
