The White House Non-Beer Budget Summit

From this LA Times account, is doesn’t sound like there was much of the famous “Beer Summit” conviviality between Obama and House Republicans meeting at the White House yesterday, but reading between the lines I think it shows that Republicans are on the offensive. While the LA Times story dwells on Ryan standing up to Obama (something he’s done every time he’s been face to face with The One), I’m told by one member present at the meeting that a high point came when Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy stung Obama directly by pointing out that his (Obama’s) budget proposal just received zero votes in the Senate.
