With White House Pay Gap Holding Steady, WH Says ‘We Still Have More Work to Do’

The White House has often lamented the fact that the average American female worker makes 77 cents on the dollar that the average male does. When critics have pointed out that a substantial gap also exists between male and female pay in the White House by this method, the administration has claimed that it’s trying to reduce the gap.

Unfortunately, the White House hasn’t done so: The gap has remained steady since President Obama took office, according to a new Washington Post analysis.

Confronted today about how to square the White House’s use of the metric by which it’s repeatedly failed, press secretary Josh Earnest said he does think it’s still a problem.

“I wouldn’t hold up the White House as the perfect example here,” Earnest said during Wednesday’s briefing. “We still have more work to do at the White House.”
