We have had this discussion before, when in a 2009 interview with Bob Costas, Obama referred to going to games at “Cominksey Field.” Before it was torn down to be replaced by the atrocity that is now known as U.S. Cellular Field, the White Sox played in “Comiskey Park” (actually, U.S. Cellular Field was was known as “New Comiskey” before it sold the naming rights, but “Old Comiskey” opened in 1910, if I’m not mistaken), named after notorious Black Sox owner Charlie Comiskey. But in the video linked to earlier (at about the one-minute mark), Obama does it again, mis-labeling the old ballfield “Cominskey Park.” It is not clear to me why he pretends to be a baseball fan when he can’t even pronounce the name of the park where he purportedly fell in love with the team.
While we’re on the subject of the White Sox, make sure to check out Gold Glove pitcher Mark Buerle’s phenomenal opening-day play. It was so good that the Sox first baseman Paul Konerko had to field the throw with his bare hand, since he had no reason to know one was coming.
