Just finished reading George Packer’s “Fall of Conservatism” piece in The New Yorker. Some truth, some nonsense. (Among the latter the observation, which Packer quotes from NY Times man Sam Tanenhaus, that “Goldwater is to Reagan as McGovern is to Obama.” Senator, you’re no Ron Reagan.) I think Packer’s right about the current state of conservatism overall though. To the catacombs!
