One of the conservative movement’s most creative and cheerful freedom fighters has died. Donors Trust, which she founded and led, has posted a statement.
Whitney was my friend and co-conspirator. She was instrumental in helping me launch the Student Free Press Association, which today is best known for its news website, the College Fix. She was on its original board, serving as a personal favor after I had assured her that it would be a simple formality and she could resign once we had gotten through our first few months as a non-profit group. An unexpected crisis struck, of course, and Whitney put on her battle armor and helped us survive.
I’ll remember her most for her infectious optimism. It animated her professional life and allowed her to withstand the cancer that finally took her yesterday. At its source was her deep faith, and her belief that death is not an end but a beginning.
