Who Needs the Kwik-E-Mart? I Do-oooooo..

Jonah, you’re absolutely right that Biden meant no harm by what he said about Indian-Americans running convenience stores, and did no harm — after all, Apu has been running the Kwik-E-Mart for what, 15 years now? But what this brings to mind is just how lucky we are that Biden is going to run for president. Pundits from Joe Klein to Arianna Huffington have been bemoaning the departure from the scene of the straight-talking, unfiltered, authentic candidate. Why? They have Biden, a politician who comes at you entirely unfiltered. The problem with the Klein-Huffington “we want authenticity” complaint is that candidates demonstrate something by showing the self-discipline necessary not to shoot themselves in the foot. Biden’s verbal sloppiness renders him electorally unfit. But what fun fun fun!
