Why Are Greg Abbott and Ted Cruz Pandering to Believers in a Stupid Conspiracy Theory about the U.S. Military?

Governor Abbott and Senator Cruz aren’t covering themselves in glory in the Jade Helm 15 furor, although Cruz says he has no reason to doubt the Pentagon when it says it’s not secretly invading Texas (gee, thanks Senator).
