Bobby Jindal hasn’t been discussed as much as some of the other contenders. But he avoids the potential liabilities of Senator Portman, who currently works inside the Beltway and had a relatively high-profile position in the Bush administration. He’s a governor and an unquestionably capable guy who at a young age already has a wide variety of political experience (he’s also been a congressman and an official at HHS). As the son of immigrants, he has a story that makes him a little more interesting than Tim Pawlenty. He’s a wonk who can be trusted in a VP debate and who would presumably be an asset to conservatives in internal policy fights in a Romney administration. Altogether he’s a very appealing option.
