Two years ago, I wrote a joke for the Thanksgiving episode of
“According to Jim.” A character hears a loud noise coming from the
roof of the house and says, “I hate to say it out loud, but is this
the year the turkeys fight back?” Not so funny now. Meanwhile, what
is funny is how many people e-mailed me the story. Boy, you write a
couple dozen posts foreseeing the worldwide rise of the avian menace,
and suddenly you’re the “crazy bird guy.”
