Will Florida’s Legislature Halt Rick Scott’s Medicaid Expansion?

I was on Up With Chris Hayes on MSNBC yesterday, along with Tia Mitchell, the reporter for the Tampa Bay Times and the Miami Herald who first broke the story that Florida governor Rick Scott (R.) was going to endorse Obamacare’s expansion of Medicaid. (Grace-Marie Turner and I wrote a piece for NRO on Friday explaining why this is a bad idea.)

Mitchell, who covers health-care goings-on in Tallahassee, had some interesting things to say about the action in the Florida legislature. She indicated that it’s probable that the Florida house, led by Speaker Will Weatherford, will block the Medicaid expansion, and that Governor Scott will not push the legislature to do otherwise. Scott may be trying to have his cake and eat it too by avoiding responsibility if the legislature votes down the expansion.

Here’s some video of our discussion:

UPDATE: I have a longer piece on my Forbes blog detailing the action in Tallahassee.
