Everyone who once associated with Kanye West is now running for the hills. The only somewhat reputable place Kanye has left is Twitter, where his account was recently reinstated. Maybe Elon Musk should rethink this move?
I largely agree with Michael Brendan Dougherty’s assessment that Musk’s takeover of the platform has been positive. But even free speech has its limits. Kanye’s sociopathy-induced racist screeds weren’t said in the context of a comedy routine, and informal, private censorship of speech considered beyond the pale has always been part of the American experience and consistent with First Amendment standards. So maybe we ought to take the microphone away from Ye before he gets innocent Jews killed? The ball is in your court, Elon.
