Will Trump Retract?

Notably absent from Donald Trump’s press conference this morning: any retractions.

It’s true that Trump has mostly been careful to ask questions or merely suggest, rather than make outright statements, when talking about the birth certificate. He’s peppered his answers in interviews with innocuously non-definitive musings such as, “Where are his hospital records? How come his family is arguing over which hospital he was born in in Hawaii?” or “Maybe it says he is a Muslim.” Or he’s repeated what he claims (Politifact disagrees that she intended to say it) Obama’s grandmother said: “His grandmother in Kenya said he was born in Kenya and she was there and witnessed the birth.”

But Monday, Trump did make a statement: that the birth certificate was “missing.”

“I’ve been told very recently … that the birth certificate is missing. I’ve been told that it’s not there or it doesn’t exist,” Trump said on CNN.

Clearly, that’s not the case. Will Trump now admit he erred?
