Will’s Take: Big Government Has Big Consequences

“No one should be surprised” by the Congressional Budget Office’s finding that Obamacare provides a disincentive to work, conservative columnist George Will said on Fox News Sunday.

“Everything Big Government does has big consequences,” Will said, noting that people often forget that Social Security was initially championed as an effort to “get people to quit working” due to concern that there was a scarcity of jobs.

“The point of progressivism is to put in front of the American people an increasingly rich menu of temptations to dependency on government in order to change social norms and, eventually, national character,” Will said. ”The president said ‘I want to fundamentally change America,’ and these disincentives to work are part of that.”
