Wis. Assembly Speaker Tells Members to Stay Away

Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald has told his members to “not even try” to make it to the assembly floor to vote on Gov. Scott Walker’s collective-bargaining bill. After a surprise vote on the bill in the state senate last night, the capitol was stormed by thousands of protesters, who are currently blocking many of the entrances to the assembly floor.

The assembly vote was scheduled for 11:00 a.m. this morning. Fitzgerald said they will try to take the vote today, but that the capitol is currently “unsafe” for his members.
