The Withdrawal-Vote Story

You don’t have to be TOO pleased with the media, K-Lo. The New York Times today is the media outlet that demonstrates how to bury the lead under an attempt to bash Republicans. The headline is “Uproar in House as Parties Clash on Iraq Pullout.” The story by Eric Schmitt doesn’t get to the overwhelming majority vote until paragraph five. First, it picks what must be the Democrats’ favorite GOP quote of the day, newbie Rep. Jean Schmidt of Ohio suggesting that “cowards cut and run,” which allows Democrats to do a few cartwheels and claim this is an attack on Vietnam vet John Murtha. Conservatives who’ve just discovered Murtha’s random positions on this war had to giggle as Murtha declares in the Times that the American people are “thirsty for some direction.”
