The Work Gets Harder from Here

Earlier today, on Laura Ingraham’s radio show, Senate Republican leader McConnell was asked about Victor Davis Hanson’s piece today about Barack Obama’s post-Election Day road to reelection. Senator McConnell responded:

… that’s historically quite accurate.  … you can go back 100 years and every time the President lost a congress two years in to the first term, he got re-elected.  And the examples in modern times that most political junkies are familiar with, Truman in ’48, Eisenhower in ’56, and Clinton in ’96. So we’re going to have to work very smart, if the voters are fortunate enough to give us the majority, we’re going to have to work very smart to avoid what history has generally provided a president which is the opportunity to pivot off of that new force in Congress, and make themselves electable.  I think the last thing most conservatives want is to give Barrack Obama another term in the White House.

Also during the interview with Laura, McConnell said about Obamacare:

It’s the single worst piece of legislation that’s passed since the time I’ve been in the Senate. It’s just been a disaster for the country.  How much repealing he’s willing to sign, I don’t know, but I think we ought to give him the opportunity.
