Work from Home for NRO as a Web Producer!

National Review Online is seeking a daytime web producer — a full-time, work-from-home position for the right candidate. If you are a formidable and fast producer of quality web content, possessing a unique blend of editorial, tech, and artistic skills, this could be just the opportunity for you.

The ideal candidate will be able to meet the following requirements from Day One:

– Management of all homepage content during regular business hours: node creation and treatments (adding artwork; special-case html work); adding/deleting/shuffling nodes based on editor instructions; node proofing and correcting, node editing for fit; etc.

– Management of homepage queues for NRO app and mobile themes

– Arting-up newly posted articles and blog posts (image acquisition, cropping, and retouching, as well as from-scratch image creation)

– Slideshow builds (image acquisition, caption writing, headline treatments, and html work on delivery of themes by editors) and slideshow proofing (applying edits to existing captions and titles; recreating sub-par artwork, etc.)

– Show/node production for audio and video, from internal builds (media-file extractions/uploads, splash images, blurbs, titles) to homepage nodes

– Featured layover production (e.g., cartoons and photoshops of the day)

– Preparation of special-themed homepages (logos, backgrounds, font-treatments, etc.) for holidays and major political/world happenings

– Some CMS (Drupal) management and troubleshooting

Skill Requirements:

– Strong proofreading/editing skills

– Strong title, blurb, and caption-writing skills

– Strong html and css skills

– Strong image-work skills (Photoshop, Fireworks, etc.)

– Experience with open-source CMS (Drupal) a plus

– Knowledge of political issues a plus

Compensation/Benefits:

* Compensation depends on demonstrated skill level

* 401(k), medical, vacation

This is a full-time, 9-5, work-from-home position, with extra hours required for scheduled special events and unplanned news cycles. Rigorous testing to verify skill sets will be employed during the vetting process.
