The WSJ vs. the FairTax

The Journal argues that the FairTax is a political dead end for conservative tax reformers. I think the Journal is right. This year’s races probably understate how damaging the FairTax would be to a candidate, both because it’s such an irregular year and because the Democrats don’t seem to realize that “the 23 percent sales tax” the FairTaxers want is actually a 30 percent tax.
