Yes, Derb

You say, “Then we ought to go to war with Iran.”

Not that I expect you to hang on my every word, but I’ve already given my take on that one, for example, here: “Like it or not. Rise to the challenge or not. You don’t want war with Iran? Fine. But never forget for a second that Iran is already at war with you.”

You ask, “Do you think, in your wildest dreams, that we are going to do that?”

Answer: It is inevitable. The Sunni jihadist war started in 1993 when the WTC was bombed, and al Qaeda took it over definitively in 1998 (if not earlier) by bombing our embassies in east Africa. We tried to deny reality, but then they went too far with 9/11. So we finally engaged, but that doesn’t change the fact that they had already been at war with us for a long time.

The same thing will happen with Iran. Its war against us has already been on for a very long time. It’s on now. We can keep pretending otherwise. But it’s not going away, and eventually, in their hubris, they’ll go too far and we’ll no longer be able to pretend. I just hope they don’t kill too many more of us between now and then.

Late Campaign Stops Don’t Seem to Do Much

Growing up in New Jersey, we called nights like tonight – where there were expectations for hooliganism -- vandalism, breaking windows, and perhaps even arson, “Mischief Night.” In Detroit, they called it “Devil’s Night.” In 2020, Americans just call it “Friday.” On the menu today: wondering ... Searching for a Sign

I’ve been waiting for almost six months to see a Biden-Harris yard sign in my neighborhood. Finally one -- just one -- appeared about two weeks ago. It is large and proud. The homeowners even equipped it with a spotlight, so that it is visible at night. I’m surprised, because liberal political yard signs ... Read More
