You Don’t Have to Wait for the Apocalypse

. . . because Hendrickson Publishers has just made many of them available in a handsome paperback edition. In the two-volume, 2,000-page Old Testament Pseudepigrapha are collected some of the most valuable religious writings of the intertestamental period — from the First Apocalypse of Enoch to the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs and the Odes of Solomon. I used to own the Doubleday hardcover version of these books; the Hendrickson paperback volumes are not much lighter, but they are much less expensive ($39.99 for the set, from Christianbook.com). A fascinating window into the religious thought-world of post-exilic Judaism and early Christianity.
