‘You Misunderstood Me; What I Asked for Was a Cup of Swiss Miss . . .’

Time magazine reports that Zurich, Switzerland, is unveiling this week nine publicly funded “sex boxes” for prostitutes to use with their clients. Last year, Zurich taxpayers voted 52 percent to appropriate $2 million for the project. This part of the report especially caught my attention:

While most of Zurich’s political parties have backed the plan, not everyone in the city is happy about these facilities – like Switzerland’s rightwing party, SVP, which has argued that prostitution is a private matter and no public funds should be spent on sex workers.

Man, those “rightwingers”! The idea that prostitution is a private matter and shouldn’t be publicly funded . . . who knows what right-wing-kooky notion they’ll come up with next.
