If I had been advising Barack Obama, I would have told him to take the high road in response to the Romney mis-pronunciation: “Governor Romney has apologized; I accept his explanation; and the matter is closed.” Of course, I wouldn’t have left it at that. The Obama folks in the hall would have been told in advance to applaud this loudly.
The audience as a whole would have joined in. Barack would have looked like a noble fellow. And the post-debate would have highlighted this “moment of political truth.”
