Defense attorney Mark O’Mara criticized the prosecution’s animated style in closing statements earlier today, likening George Zimmerman–trial prosecutor John Guy’s effusive style to that of televangelist Joel Osteen.
O’Mara argued that the prosecution appealing to the jury’s emotions rather than focusing on the evidence and mimicked Guy’s angry gesticulations, telling jurors that the prosecution’s theatrics distorted the facts of the case.
“Does it really help you decide this case when somebody who is not George Zimmerman screams at you, or yells at you and curses at you?” asked O’Mara. “No . . . Listen to the tape, don’t listen to Mr. Guy.”
