Newt Gingrich has a good piece on innovation and health care in today’s Wall Street Journal. This is an important topic that I have written on before but the point needs to be repeated. Innovation provides a host of benefits for us as a nation, from the standpoints of health, economics, and national security (Gingrich’s piece focuses on the health benefits aspect). Unfortunately, Washington policy makers often lose sight of those benefits in seeing the life sciences industry as a source for near term revenues rather than future cures.
