I didn’t know whether to laugh or claim refugee status back in Canada when I learned about this White House blog entry (courtesy of the National Taxpayers Union). Apparently, the White House is aware of “misinformation” being spread about the federal take-over of Americans’ access to medical services (sorry: “health-insurance reform”):
These rumors often travel just below the surface, via chain e-mails or casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an e-mail or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
(I suppose that they might have sub-conciously picked up the “fishy” adjective via Sen. John McCain, who described the pending legislation turning into a ”fish in the sun” over the August recess.)
This blog entry is also where presidential health-care spokesperson Linda Douglass carefully dispels any “rumors” that we’ll all be roped into a government buraucracy by presenting videos of President Obama repeatedly insisting that “if you like your current insurance you can keep it.”
They must have confused us with the “birther” movement, demanding to see his “real” Hawaiian birth certificate. Earth to White House: You don’t have to prove to us that he said it. He can say it every minute of every day until the Second Coming. For all we know or care it could have been the entire subject of conversation at the “beer summit” with Professor Gates, Sergeant Crowley, and Vice President Biden.
It doesn’t change the fact that it’s not true.
